How to Download Threads Videos
Copy the link, paste it, save the original file — on iPhone, Android, Mac or Windows. No app to install, no account needed.
Why Threads has no save button
Threads doesn't ship a download button. Posts play inside the app or the web player, and there's no way to pull the file out. If you need a copy — for an offline edit, a client deck, or a repost with credit — the only route is to take the post's link and hand it to something that can resolve the media file behind it.
That is the whole job of ThreadsDo. It reads the post, finds the media Threads is already serving, and gives you that same file — same resolution, same audio, nothing re-encoded and nothing watermarked.
Step 1 — Copy the link to the post
Open the post itself (not the profile) on threads.com or in the Threads app, then:
On a phone
Tap the ••• icon in the top-right corner of the post, then tap Copy link.
On a computer
Click the ••• icon, then choose Copy link. You can also copy the URL straight from the address bar while the post is open — it works identically.
Step 2 — Paste it into ThreadsDo
Go to threadsdo.com, paste the link into the box at the top of the page, and press Fetch. The parser accepts threads.com and threads.net links, as well as the short /t/ links the app sometimes produces with tracking parameters attached.
You don't need to clean the URL up first, and you don't need an account.
Step 3 — Preview, then download
Nothing is saved until you say so. ThreadsDo shows you what it found — for a video, a playable preview with its resolution — so you can confirm it is the right post before downloading.
Press Download and the original file lands in your browser's download folder. Carousel posts are split into one card per video or photo, so you can take the whole post or a single item.
Posts are read from the public web, the same way anyone can open them at threads.com
On iPhone
Safari puts downloads in the Files app rather than Photos: look in Files → Downloads, or On My iPhone → Downloads, depending on your settings. To move a video into your camera roll, open it from Files and use Share → Save Video.
If you would rather skip the copy-paste step on the go, the browser extension adds a download button directly to Threads pages in Chrome and Edge.
On Android
Chrome saves to Downloads and shows a notification when the file is ready. Tap the notification to open it, or find it later in Files → Downloads.
Threads videos come down as standard MP4 files, so the gallery app and any video editor will read them without extra codecs.
On a computer
In Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox the file goes to your default download folder. Longer videos finish faster here, because the browser isn't competing with a mobile radio — and you can keep working while it runs.
A few things to keep in mind
- Public posts only. A private account cannot be resolved — not by ThreadsDo and not by any other tool. Private posts return an error instead of a file, which is the correct behaviour.
- Use the post URL, not the profile URL. Profiles contain no media, so there is nothing to parse.
- Deleted posts stop working. If the creator removed the post, the media is gone from the platform itself.
- The work belongs to whoever made it. Save what you own or have permission to use, and credit the creator when you repost.
Which quality do you actually get?
There is nothing to choose. ThreadsDo always returns the highest version of the file the platform is serving — it never re-encodes, never upscales, never compresses, and never adds a watermark.
That also means the ceiling is set by the original upload. A video posted at 720p comes back at 720p; there is no hidden 4K master to extract. Animated posts arrive as short MP4s, because that is how Threads itself stores them.
Wrapping up
The flow never changes: copy the link, paste it, save the file. After the second time it is muscle memory, and it works the same on every device you own.
Ready to try it? Copy the link of the post you wanted to keep and save it at threadsdo.com — no sign-up, no app to install.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install an app?
No. ThreadsDo runs in any modern browser, on desktop and mobile. The browser extension for Chrome and Edge is optional — it only adds an on-page button and a right-click menu item.
How long does a download take?
Usually a couple of seconds. Parsing the post takes the longest part; the file transfer depends on its size and on your connection.
Can I download photos and GIFs as well as videos?
Yes. Photos come down as full-size JPGs, and animated posts come down as MP4s. Carousel posts are split into individual items.
Will the video have a watermark?
No. You get exactly the file Threads serves — no logo, no overlay, and no branding added by us.
Is there a limit on how many I can download?
No daily or monthly limit. Requests are rate-limited per connection to keep the service stable for everyone, which you would only notice if you tried to pull hundreds of files in one minute.
Is it legal to download Threads videos?
That depends on the content and on where you live. The file belongs to its creator, so only download what you own or have permission to use. This guide is not legal advice.
